Thanks for the research Brian. I thought it was my crappy lenses or incompetence that was causing wacky results. Even so, I’m still hoping for a tilt-shift lens from Santa Claus!

Personally, I would spend the money elsewhere than a shift/tilt lens if what you want it for is perspective correction. You can do that change easily enough in Gimp or Photoshop.

The tilt, though, is cool if you want your in-focus area to be a “ramp” instead of a vertical plane.

Still, I’d rather have a DC (defocus-control) lens so I can get better bokeh in portrait shots.
